There is a lot we could say about the Chancer of the Exchequer raising VAT to 20%, but since a picture is worth a thousand words, we can save space by just showing a couple of pictures:
Before the election the Tories insisted Labour would raise VAT, with the implication that they wouldn't. The Lib Dems said that the Tories would raise VAT, with the implication that they wouldn't. In both cases, the further implication was that raising VAT would be a bad thing and that you should vote for them to stop such a thing happening.
It is a safe bet that we will be reminding everybody about these examples of the ConDems saying anything to get elected nearer to next year's local council elections.
