In the local paper last week there were a couple of pages about the increase in student fees, including the opinions of several local politicians, parents and head teachers.
One of these opinion pieces was by Morwen Millson, the leader of the Liberal Democrat group on the county council.
This week the County Times printed a piece by Labour's Andrew Skudder which is partly a response to that article but also a commentary on the public spending cuts in general.

Response to Horsham Lib Dems
David Hide, Chair of Horsham Labour party, responds to a letter in this week's County Times in this open letter to Derek Deedman.
An invitation to Liberal Democrats
Labour supporters in Horsham have been seduced in the past by the local Liberal Democrats saying to them "lend us your votes". Many Labour supporters will have done just that, seeing a Lib Dem vote as a way to keep the Tories out, only to now see the Lib Dem leader offered a place in a Tory cabinet. Lib Dems feeling a bit lost?
Residents of Horsham who took the time to look at the Liberal Democrats' election leaflet closely will have noticed that their candidate seems a little confused about what his priorities would be if elected.
He promises he "will be a strong voice for Worthing West". Horsham Labour party will continue to concentrate on Horsham if that's OK.

David Hide, Chair of Horsham Labour party, wrote to the West Sussex County Times last week about the vindication of the party's stance on affordable housing and his personal disappointment at the level of support from Liberal Democrat councillors on this, and on other issues.
