It has come to our attention that quite a few people in the Horsham constituency did not receive anything from us during the election campaign. This has come as a great surprise and disappointment to us.
Obviously with such a large area and limited resources we can't physically visit every house in the constituency, so we depend on the Royal Mail's free delivery at general elections to guarantee at least some contact with everybody.
We did spend a large proportion of our funds on printing more than 43,000 leaflets to take advantage of this free delivery for general elections, but it looks like there may have been some problems.
When our Chair didn't receive one in the post he thought it might be a fluke. Then it looked like a coincidence when our Secretary didn't receive one either. When another member at yesterday's constituency meeting said they didn't receive one it looked like a trend. A couple of our candidate's work colleagues also said they had not received anything through the post.
We are looking into this and will be making enquiries. If anybody out there also did not receive our full-colour election address can they let us know?
Last year our Chair, Secretary, candidate and other members all made early morning visits to the CWU picket line in Horsham and we are well aware of the irony involved, however our commitment to a publicy-owned Royal Mail is not dimished by this glitch.
