Horsham Labour Party member, Ray Battersby, responded to an article by the Tory leader of West Sussex County Council in this letter which was printed in today's West Sussex County Times.
Henry Smith's weekly column, once again, is devoid of Couty Council matters - or is it? He says that the Conservatives will repair the "broken society", "broken economy" and "broken politics".
As the county council leader, he is uniquely placed to know exactly where such "broken" activity is happening in West Sussex. He needs to demostrate to your readers what part of county society is broken, what part of the county's economy is broken and what part of the county's politics is broken.
To help him on the latter, he must be extremely proud of his local MP, Laura Moffatt, who has an exemplary record on expenses.
This has even been acknowledged on national TV. This is in stark contrast to him raising his own allowances and expenses by over 60 per cent since taknig office and at odds with my local Horsham MPs' graphic expenditure exposure - followed by his lamentable excuse similar to the well-known cosmetics advert "because I'm worth it".
I look forward to his economy and society examples and other "broken" political situations directly under his areas of responsibility. Now that would be a proper use of the weekly column - instead of just repeating national Conservative office material.

It really does look like one thing that
is broken is the record Henry Smith is playing, where it keeps skipping to the same line about everything being the government's fault.
