Petition over affordable housing

When the chair and secretary of Horsham Labour Party handed in our affordable housing petition to the Horsham council offices, the local paper was there to cover it and the full story is in today's West Sussex County Times.
David Hide, chair of Horsham Labour, was quoted in the story as saying (about a forthcoming meeting with housing minister John Healey):

When I meet the minister I will alert him to the development currently being built in Toty-controlled Chichester, which is delivering 300 new affordable homes on a development of 750.  If the Tories south of Horsham can meet their target of 40 per cent why can't ours?  It appears to be nothing short of a lack of desire and political will to meet the needs of local residents in Horsham.

One outcome of the petition is that David has been invited to attend a cross-party group of members to discuss the issues.  Horsham Labour have attended similar meetings in the past and always welcome the chance to give their input and put pressure on the council to deliver more affordable housing.
