Put things right!

Labour's County Council Candidate in Bramber Castle speaks out loud

Challenging some Basic Assumptions!
I am a socialist first and a Labour Party Member second.

What we ordinary voters, and in my case Labour Party members, want is to be treated fairly and justly. Increasingly we are finding our bankers and politicians, but also our media, are now largely corrupt and underhand.

I have spent at least twenty years of my working life in the public sector as a nurse, a teacher and a parish councillor in addition to my role as a wife, mother and grandparent. I have never had a bonus, have always given 100% (incidentally you can’t give more than that - common media misconception) and have never fiddled my expenses. The bankers have now decimated my savings and pension. Am I angry? You bet!!!

It is time our politicians, bankers and the media started challenging some basic assumptions instead of setting pre-planned agendas for their own ends, starting with:

1. Attack the whole basis of the bonus culture.
Why should anyone being paid to do a job expect a bonus? Please don’t give me the old chestnut that it is necessary to attract highly-skilled staff. We have plenty of recent examples to illustrate it plainly doesn’t work! I am an intelligent talented person with a Masters degree, earned as a mature student, so please don’t insult my intelligence by giving me that rubbish!

2. Why should anyone including journalists (who are renowned for being some of the worst fiddlers of expenses) be entitled to anything but their basic out-of-pocket expenses?

The Labour Party could always be relied on to seek for truth and campaign for justice for all, examining the fairness and validity of our laws and regulations from a moral and ethical standpoint. Most of our MPs and members of our Party still can - but what has happened to a sector of our parliamentary representatives from across the political spectrum?

The bankers, politicians and the media need to ‘PUT THINGS RIGHT’. Many have lost their way. They need to get on track and speak for the honest people and the workers who create real wealth both financially, socially and intellectually in our country.

WE MUST DEMAND THAT THEY DO! If we are to stand any hope of restoring the moral basis of our culture and institutions.

VOTERS MUST BE WARY! In this election, do not jump out of the frying pan into the fire!!
The extremist parties stand to benefit from this mess if voters punish the main-stream parties for the actions of a few rogue parliamentarians. That would be a real disaster.

Vote for the integrity of the candidate and the basic values of truth and fairness of the party!
